Department of Health Information Technology independently began training of Medical Record students in associate’s degree since 1986 (1365 Hijri) in the School of Paramedical. Admission in associate’s degree of Medical Record discipline was canceled in 2004 (1383 Hijri) and training continued by admission of Medical Record students in bachelor’s degree. The department admitted students in bachelor degree of Health Information Technology since 2004 (1383 Hijri) and in master degree since 2011 (1390 Hijri).
The purposes of department are education, research, and executive activities. In the area of education, the department currently trains students in bachelor and master degree to prepare expert staffs for efficient managing of health information through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). In the area of research, we study on medical records and health information technology and in the area of executive activities, we try to improve the national health information system and other related activities. The department also tries to launch medical informatics in master's degree and PhD in Health Information Management with relies on the capabilities of its faculty members.
This Department, according to the university decision, was transferred to the School of Management and Medical Information science in 2012 March (1391 Hijri,Esfand).
