Health economics is the application of economic theory, models and empirical techniques in the field of health. It provides analytical techniques to facilitate resource allocation decisions, resource generation, and resource management in health. In concise, health economics analyses behavior of patients, doctors and hospitals, and other health market actors such as health insurances to provide evidences to improve decision making with respect to health and health care.
Our department in Tabriz university of Medical Sciences was established to raise the high quality health economists who will be equipped with fundamental knowledge in health economics. The department has the reputation of having high quality academic members in the country. It has been targeted in our vision to thrive and enhance the department as one of the leading health economics departments in the region.
We have two strong postgraduate programs, including MS and PhD degrees in health economics. We conduct research in the fields of health economics and health managements. We have a good record in conducting research projects in collaboration with Iran’s ministry of health and some international entities.
